Nimiq Core v2.0.0 is Live
The Nimiq network is now running Nimiq Core v2.0.0. The upgrade activated once validators signaled their readiness on-chain, and the network has been producing blocks under the upgraded consensus since.

Last Tuesday, Nimiq crossed another milestone: the v2.0.0 network upgrade went live. Validators applied the patch and signaled their readiness on-chain; once enough active stake signaled, the upgrade activated at the following election block. The network has been running Nimiq Core v2.0.0 since. Here is how it went.
Update your wallet and Pay app
Reload the Nimiq Wallet in your browser so it picks up the latest version. Nimiq Pay will be fully operational as soon as the app stores approve the new release, and we will let you know when it is ready to update. Older versions no longer work with the upgraded network. Exchanges and other applications built on Nimiq are operating normally again.
How the rollout went
- The window opened on the 10th of August
- Active slots that signaled: 88.48%
- Active stake that signaled: 87.48%
- Validators that participated: 28
- Epochs to reach the activation threshold: 3 epochs ~35 hours
Smoother upgrades from here
Nimiq Core v2.0.0 also changes how validators take part in future upgrades. Signaling now takes fewer steps and less key handling on the validator side, which lowers the operational cost of participating. The practical effect is that the next upgrades should be easier to join and, if validators choose to signal, quicker to activate.
What comes next
The next upgrade we are preparing focuses on interoperability between Nimiq and EVM-based chains, starting with Ethereum. We will share the details, along with what validators, node operators, and integrators will need to do, once the scope is locked.
There is more coming beyond the protocol itself. Over the next few weeks, we will share Nimiq's sharpened vision and the road ahead for the network and the products around it, followed by the technical roadmap. Keep an eye on the blog.
Thank you to our validators who make this network run, and to the exchanges and partners who coordinated with us around the rollout. An upgrade like this only works because many independent operators chose to do their part on time We are grateful for the support.
