The End-User App Roadmap is Now in the Nimiq Forum

The roadmap for Nimiq’s end-user experience is open for discussion in the forum, with seven categories and one thread per milestone. It is a first proposal built around Pay, Save, and Earn, with Mini Apps throughout, and several open decisions where community input will shape the result.

The End-User App Roadmap is Now in the Nimiq Forum

[] The Protocol Technical Roadmap sets out where the Nimiq protocol is going. The protocol is one half of the plan. The other half is Nimiq Pay, a single end-user app that wins real users, solves real problems, and brings them to the Nimiq protocol. Its roadmap is now open for discussion in the forum.

This roadmap starts from the end-user experience. The first audience is people who already use crypto and want something simply better to use: a product that works very well for payments and lets them use dApps in the same place. The current plan organizes everything around three sections, Pay, Save, and Earn, with Mini Apps as a layer that runs through all of them.

Mini Apps are what set Nimiq Pay apart. They run directly inside Nimiq Pay, so people can use other apps and services without leaving it. They currently support both Nimiq and Ethereum, bringing existing dApps like Uniswap and Aave into the same place, and they can add support for other ecosystems in the future. For security, users keep their keys under their own control inside Nimiq Pay and confirm every sensitive action.

How the discussion is organized

The discussion takes place in a new End-User Roadmap category in the forum, with milestones organized in sub-categories. The introduction post is the place to start: it explains how the roadmap is organized and how the feedback rounds work. Each sub-category has its own pinned post with a description, a milestone index, and a short explanation of each one.

The End-User App roadmap covers seven sub-categories:

For now, the roadmap is text only. We'll share designs and branding later in a future blog post, once the work is far enough along for feedback to be useful.

The current priority is feature parity through Mini Apps: bringing the features people rely on today in the Nimiq Wallet into Nimiq Pay as Mini Apps. Building them ourselves also helps the Mini App framework mature, since every feature we port tests and extends it.

What input helps most

This is a first proposal, a set of milestones rather than a delivery schedule. Several items are open decisions, and that is where your input matters most.

The most useful replies are specific: which milestones matter most to you as a user or builder, what is missing, which features you rely on today, and where Mini Apps fall short for what you want to do. We welcome different opinions when they come with reasoning and suggestions, as long as they align with Nimiq's Vision.

One note on scope: protocol topics belong in the Protocol Roadmap threads, and neither roadmap is the place for exchange or market questions. The community ground rules explain how the space works. The invitation is open to everyone who uses Nimiq Pay, builds Mini Apps, or shares the vision of open payments that empower individuals worldwide.

What's next

Team Nimiq will be reviewing and commenting over the next few weeks, with answers shared weekly after internal discussion. We'll publish a public version of both roadmaps on the Nimiq Website, with a blog post and changelog explaining what changed and why. It will also be a living roadmap: each milestone will link to its forum discussion and to the development work behind it, so anyone can follow progress as it happens.
